TEMPE, Ariz. - Twenty-seven members of the Arizona State University track and field program earned academic honors it was announced Wednesday will all 27 earning positions on the Academic All-Pac-10 lists while three women also attained positions on the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VIII teams.
Brooke Bennett and Rachel Ellison both attained ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VIII First Team honors and will now be placed on the ballot for Academic All-America accolades. Victoria Jackson also earned district honors by collecting a second-team award. Bennett and Ellison also were selected to the First Team Academic All-Pac-10 and were joined by Sara Shisslak, also a first team honoree.
The men had four first team selections on the conference level, including Griffin Lee, Velibor Radejovic and Ryan Warrenburg, tying ASU for the most first team selections in the conference. The Sun Devils had eight women and three men earn second team honors, including David Gott, Andy Haas, Becky Holley, Jenna Kingma, April Kubishta, David Mehlhorn, Corey Randall, Cassie Rios, Sarah Stevens, Cara Walker and Jenna Wrieden.
Honorable mention accolades were earned on the women's side by Amy Hastings, Jackson, Jacquelyn Johnson and Jessie McLaughlin while the men honored included Eric Dall, Ryan Ehler, Joey Heller, Tomas Navarro and Sean Pierce.
The Sun Devils head to Sacramento, Calif., June 7-10 as they compete in the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships set for the Alex G. Spanos Athletic Complex on the Sacramento State campus.
