TEMPE, Ariz. – Sarah Reaves’s .417 attack percentage for 18 kills and ASU’s 14 team blocks anchored the Sun Devil Volleyball team Friday night as they stepped up to sweep the Oregon State Beavers 30-28, 25-19 and 25-16. The win pushes ASU to 11-13 overall and 5-6 in Pac-10 play while OSU falls to 8-18 on the season and 1-11 in conference play.
Set one had Sarah Reaves’ name all over it as the senior collected seven kills for a .333 attack percentage with two digs and a block assist to lead the Sun Devils. It didn’t prove to be an easy task in the first set though as ASU had to battle off 14 tie scores and eight lead changes to pull off the win in extras with a 30-28 final in set one.
Set two proved to be another down to the wire set as both teams had to battle off ten tie scores and three lead changes, though in the end the Sun Devils prevailed with a .314 attack percentage over OSU’s .265. Reaves jumped out of the gym again with seven more kills for a .417 attack percentage as she led ASU to a 25-19 win to roll into the break 2-0.
Set three was all ASU though as they took the first point and never looked back in the set, crushing a .353 team attack percentage and five blocks with three block assists from Malia Marquardt alone to push ASU to a 25-16 win and sweep.
The Sun Devils hit the home court again tomorrow as they set to host No. 20 Oregon Ducks in Tempe at Wells Fargo Arena.
