CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Arizona State volleyball team fell to Oregon State in three games Friday night at Gill Coliseum. Sydney Donahue recorded 15 digs, leaving her six shy of the ASU school record. The loss drops the Sun Devils to 7-20 overall, 2-15 in the Pac-10. ASU now heads to Eugene for the season finale Saturday night at Oregon.
The Beavers controlled the entire match, winning 30-27, 30-27, 30-26. Nicole Morton led the Sun Devils with 15 kills, while Kristin Trayser added 11 of her own. Giovana Melo once again led the Sun Devils with 41 assists.
Both team's offensive stats where similar, as Arizona State recorded a .274 hitting percentage, while Oregon State posted a .275 hitting percentage. The difference was on the serve. ASU had 14 service errors to OSU's 7. The Beavers were able to capitalize on that for the victory.
Junior libero Sydney Donahue enters Saturday night's contest with the Ducks with the ASU record for digs in a season firmly in her sights. The record, 601, was set by Mindy Gowell during the 1990 season. Donahue recorded 15 digs against the Beavers, giving her double digit digs in 40 of her 43 career matches.
The match with Oregon will start at 8:00 pm at MacArthur Court in Eugene.
