TEMPE, Ariz. (www.TheSunDevils.com) -- Despite a solid 14-kill effort from junior outside hitter Nina Reeves, the Arizona State Sun Devils dropped a three-game match to No. 13 California Thursday night in Pac-10 volleyball action at Wells Fargo Arena. Game scores were 30-21, 30-20, 30-27 in favor of the Golden Bears.
The Sun Devils dropped their fifth straight match to fall to 6-10 overall and 1-5 in Pac-10 play. The nationally ranked Golden Bears improved to 13-3 overall and 6-1 in league play. ASU returns to action Friday night against No. 3 Stanford.
Reeves (Gilbert, Ariz.) tallied 14 kills on a .357 hitting percentage to lead the Sun Devils. She also had two blocks for a team-high 15.0 points. Sophomore libero Alison Lund (Bowie, Md.) led ASU with seven digs.
Angie Pressey (15 kills), Am'ra Solomon (13 kills) and Jenna Brown (10 kills) led the Golden Bears. Setter Samantha Carter recorded a match-high 44 assists and libero Jillian Davis led all players with 15 digs.
