FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - Senior Elina Eggers saved her best for last at the 2012 Pac-12 Championships, taking the gold medal on the women's 10-meter platform and winning her second-career conference title in the event. Eggers, the 2011 NCAA runner-up on platform, scored a total of 308.35 in the event to defeat USC's Victoria Ishimatsu for the title. Eggers began competition on Thursday winning the bronze medal on the women's 1-meter springboard and silver, Friday, on the women's 3-meter springboard.
Sophomore Tristin Baxter won the silver medal in the 1650 free setting a new school record in the event with a time of 16:05.50. Baxter bested her own record set last season by almost 10 seconds. Baxter joins Eggers, Rebecca Ejdervik and Cameron Bradshaw as Sun Devil medalists over the weekend.
The ASU 400 free relay of Shannon Landgrebe, Caroline Kuczynski, Mattie Kukors and Cassie Morrice finished in fifth place for the final race of the day. The Sun Devils swam an NCAA consideration time of 3:18.67 in the event, the third-best time in ASU history.
Landgrebe finished in sixth place in the 100 free with an NCAA consideration time of 48.77, the second-best time in school history. In the 200 breast, senior Jordyn Green also finished in sixth place with an NCAA consideration time of 2:14.27.Kuczynski finished 11th in the 200 fly with an NCAA consideration time of 1:57.46.
In the women's 200 back sophomore Kallie Golden finished in 13th with an NCAA consideration time of 1:57.27. Kukors also swam an NCAA consideration time in the event, touching in with a time of 1:57.75.
Arizona State finished the 2012 Pac-12 Championships in sixth place overall with a total of 790.5 points. California took the conference title with a score of 1389.5.
