Arizona State Takes Second In Las Vegas

TEMPE, Ariz.- Arizona State's eighth-ranked wrestling squad took home second place at the Las Vegas Collegiate Wrestling Invitational at the Star of the Desert Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The 42 team field was represented by 13 of the top-20 teams in the latest Amateur Wrestling News poll.
ASU finished with 119 points, behind top-ranked Oklahama State who won the tournament with 142.5 points.
Casey Strand (167) and Aaron Simpson (177) led the Sun Devils, each placing second. Michael Kawamura (118) and Quinn Foster (134), both unseeded in the tournament, placed fifth and third respectively. Other Sun Devil wrestlers of note: Steven Blackford (150) finished fourth and Matt Suter (158) placed seventh.
ASU will be out of action until December 29 & 30, where they will compete in the Midlands Invitational in Evanston, Illinois.
