ASU Volleyball Season Wrapup
- Finished season 13-16 overall, 4-14 (8th) in the Pacific-10 conference
- Went 9-2 in nonconference schedule
- Co-captains were senior Kirstin Mattson and junior Jen Lucero
- Only two seniors on the 1997 roster (nine underclassmen and six newcomers)
- Named tournament champions at the Sun Devil/Hilton Challenge (3-0) and the Ladyjack Invitational (Nacogdoches, Tx.) were they went 4-0
- Senior outside hitter Terri Cox was named tournament MVP at both the Sun Devil/Hilton Challenge and Ladyjack Invitational
- Cox was an all-tournament selection at the Judy Bellomo Classic (Santa Barbara, Calif.)
- Sophomore Laura Hibsman was a Pac-10 All-Academic honorable mention selection
- Frosh Amanda Burbridge was named to the Pac-10 All-Freshmen team
- Cox was an All-Pac-10 honorable mention selection
- Mattson was named to the all-tournament team at the Sun Devil/Hilton Challenge along with teammate Jolynn Faatulu
- Cox became only the seventh player in ASU history to record over 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in her career
- Mattson became only the sixth Sun Devil to tally over 100 solo blocks and 200 block assists during her career
- ASU recorded wins over four teams participating in the '97 NCAA tourney: South Florida, Central Florida, Stephen F. Austin and Washington
- Mattson recorded her first career triple-double versus Oregon State, 10/18 (14 kills-11 digs-10 blocks)
- Mattson's triple-double was the first by an ASU plyer since 1993.
