Tempe, Ariz - The Arizona State Women's Tennis Team kept their winning streak going full-steam Saturday afternoon with a 5-2 upset over the 21st-ranked Huskies of Washington.
The Devils started off with all cylinders clicking as they swept doubles from the Huskies with the 21st-ranked duo of Lauren Colalillo and Kady Pooler leading the way with an 8-2 win over Huskies Dinka Hadzic and Dea Sumantri.
Their teammates followed their example, giving ASU the doubles point.
In singles play, the Devils stepped up to show the determination which carried them to another upset just a week ago when they upset Cal 4-3.
Kady Pooler and Rebecca Rankin finished first both with 6-1, 6-1 wins over UW's Mugette Ahn and Allison Rainey.
While Sabrina Capannolo was not able to hold off the 15th-ranked Dea Sumantri in a tough 6-4, 6-3 loss, her teammate and neighbor in the No. 2 spot, Joslynn Burkett, stepped up huge for ASU with a gritty, amazing win to seal the win for the Devils with a 6-4, 7-6(7) upset of the 54th-ranked Dinka Hadzic.
Jessica Leitch sweetened the deal for the Devils with her 7-6(6), 6-4 win over Saskia Nauenberg ending the match at a 5-2 win for ASU.
The Devils improve to 9-7 on the season and 4-3 in Pac-10 competition.
The Devils will have a week of rest before their final match of the regular season against in-state rival, Arizona.
The match is set to take place on Saturday, April 16th with a 1:00 p.m. start time at Tempe's Whiteman Tennis Center.
