The No. 27 Arizona State women's tennis team has been selected for their 22nd consecutive NCAA appearance. The streak of 22 selects stands as not only the longest active streak in the school, but the most consecutive team selections for any sport in the history of Arizona State.
The Sun Devils (11-8) will head to a familiar place to begin their quest for the NCAA Championships. The Sun Devils have been selected to compete in Los Angeles for the first and second rounds, with Pac-10 foe UCLA as its host. ASU will take on UNLV (20-7) in the first round on Saturday, May 8. The Rebels are currently ranked 44th by ITA. If the Sun Devils defeat the Rebels, they will compete against the winner of No. 11 UCLA and No. 62 Boston University.
In her 25th season, head coach Sheila McInerney will guide the Sun Devils to her 24th NCAA appearance in 25 years. McInerney has guided ASU to a quarterfinal finish in the Elite 8 on eight occasions and has reached the Sweet 16 in 18 of the those 24 appearances.
