TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Arizona State women's soccer team (2-0, 0-0 Pac-10) extended its winning streak to two games and got its second shutout of the season in a 3-0 blitzing of University of Wyoming on Sunday.
ASU's first goal, and the only goal of the half, came from sophomore forward Tricia Steiner with an assist from junior midfielder Kerrie Kulak at the 31:53 mark.
Kulak passed the ball in the air to Steiner who headed it into the left corner.
In the second half, sophomore defender Marianne Simmons fed sophomore forward Sarah Blaska for ASU's second goal of the match at the 60:16 mark.
The third and final goal was an unassisted score from Sun Devil sophomore forward Aisha Thomas in the 73rd minute. Thomas followed through on her own shot after it was deflected by the Wyoming goalkeeper.
Arizona State totaled 13 shots on goal compared to Wyoming's eight. ASU goalkeeper Erin Reinke had five saves on the night while Wyoming's goalkeeper stopped eight shots.
In only its second year of play, ASU has already beaten its record for shutouts in a season (1). The Sun Devils also topped their longest winning streak this weekend with its back-to-back shutouts (Colorado 1-0).
Arizona State starts Pac-10 play September 5, in Tucson, where they will take on the Arizona Wildcats. Last year, the Sun Devils swept the Wildcats (4-2, 2-1).
