Sun Devils Top Creighton, 5-0
TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Arizona State soccer team (6-1-0, 1-0-0 Pac-10) notched its third shutout of the season in a 5-0 victory over Creighton (4-1-1, 0-0-0 MVC) at Sun Devil Soccer Field.
ASUs first goal, and the only goal of the half, was scored at the 5:25 mark by freshman midfielder Antoinette Marjanovic with the assist going to freshman forward Karine Inoue. The goal was scored on a breakaway to the left corner.
ASU came out fired up in the second half scoring four goals in four shots on goal. At the 78:32 mark, sophomore midfielder Kim Wagner fed freshman defender Jaclyn Clark for ASUs second goal. Clark headed the ball over the goalie.
Marjanovic and freshman midfielder Jessica Bohl connected in the 79th minute to give Marjanovic her second goal of the night.
A Creighton turnover led to an ASU goal from Clark with the assist going to sophomore forward Sarah Blaska at the 82:05 mark. In the 88th minute, Marjanovic crossed the ball to Clark who scored ASUs fifth goal. Clark notched her first career hat trick.
Sun Devil goalkeeper Erin Reinke had five saves while Creightons goalie stopped three shots, all in the first half.
The Sun Devils return to Sun Devil Soccer Field Sunday, September 28, to face New Mexico at noon.
