Women's Soccer Falls to Tennessee, 2-1
TEMPE, Ariz.-The Arizona State soccer team (7-3-0, 1-0-0 Pac-10) was narrowly defeated by Tennessee (6-5-0, 1-3-0 SEC), 2-1 Sunday at Sun Devil Soccer Field.
Sun Devil midfielder Erin McGinnis fed sophomore forward Aisha Thomas in the 15th minute for ASU's only goal of the game, and the only goal of the first half.
Tennessee came out fired up in the second half, outshooting ASU 8-3. Both of the Lady Vols' goals were scored in the second half. Their first was an unassisted score by Whitney Rayburn in the 48th minute, and the second goal was scored by Laura Lauter with the assist going to Kassie Kees at the 74:27 mark.
Sun Devil goalkeeper Erin Reinke had eight saves, while the two Tennessee goalkeepers had a combined five saves.
Arizona State had 14 fouls in the game, while Tennessee had 17. The Lady Vols snapped a three-game losing streak with this win.
The Sun Devils finish their six-game homestand Sunday, October 12, when they take on Montana at 11 a.m. at Sun Devil Soccer Field.
