Phoenix Mercury Drafts Former Sun Devil Monique Ambers
TEMPE, Ariz. -- The WBNA's Phoenix Mercury drafted former Arizona State University women's basketball star Monique Ambers in the league's inaugural draft Monday.
Ambers, who played at ASU from 1989-93, was the first player selected in the fourth round (25th overall). She was one of four Pac-10 players taken in the first four rounds.
Ambers ranks second all-time at ASU in career rebounds (823) and is second all-time in field goal percentage (.538). She was an assistant coach at George Washington after graduating from ASU.
