May 7, 2001

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Arizona State women's tennis player Adria Engel claimed first team All-Pac-10 honors, while men's tennis player Nic Dubey earned second team honors, announced today by the Pac-10 office.

Engel, a sophomore from Glen Ellyn, Illinois, claimed the schools first Pac-10 singles tennis title (men's or women's) at the Pac-10 Championships. She dropped only two sets in the entire tournament as she defeated five opponents from four different Pac-10 schools, including defending Pac-10 champion Sara Walker of UCLA in the semifinals.

Engel, currently ranked eighth in the country, also holds the schools highest individual ranking ever. Engel has won 14 of her last 15 matches and leads the Arizona State team with a 26-7 overall record.

Dubey, a senior from Aigle, Switzerland, played at the No. 1 singles position for the Sun Devils, compiling a 21-15 overall record. Dubey currently is ranked 67th in the nation and has recorded 83 career singles wins.
