FEDERAL WAY, Wash. -- The Arizona State diving squad wrapped up the 2003 Pac-10 Diving Championships with two top-three finishes and a school record this evening at the King County Aquatic Center. Sophomore women's diver Trisha Tumlinson set a new Sun Devil record and finished second on the platform while freshman men's diver Joona Puhakka notched a third-place finish for the men.
Tumlinson, already the ASU record-holder on platform, eclipsed her own mark on the way to a total of 454.05. This would have been a new Pac-10 record, yet USC's Blythe Hartley registered a 489.20 after a 493.10 preliminary to win the title. Jessica Stenson tallied a 290.20 to place 17th for the Sun Devils.
The men were attempting the platform for the first time this season, and Puhakka totaled 456.40 for his top-three finish after having won the Pac-10 titles in the 1-meter and 3-meter earlier this weekend. Thomas McCrummen totaled a 394.50 to finish ninth.
The divers are back in action March 13-14 for the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships in Oklahoma City.
