TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State versus Arizona swimming and diving meet on February 14, 2004, has been changed to 1:00 p.m. The meet is an annual highlight of the dual meet season and will provide Sun Devil fans the final opportunity to see the swimmers and divers in action before the postseason.
Last year's meet in Tucson provided the usual excitement between the two schools with the ASU men falling by the narrowest of margins to the Wildcats 150-149, as each school won eight of the 16 events. The 150-149 scoreline represented the closest meet the Sun Devil men have been a part of since the 1988-89 season when they were edged by California 57-56 in Tempe. During the 1990s, the men's team was involved in only two meets that were comparably close, one of which was against Arizona, a 151-149 win for the Sun Devils in the 1993-94 season.
The Sun Devils (No. 13 women, No. 16 men) presently have several individuals in the nation's top-10 in their respective events. Nick Brunelli (7th-50 free 20.38; 6th-100 free 44.61; 10th-200 free 1:38.81), Ahmed Hussein (4th-200 back 1:46.15), Leonardo Martins (10th-200 breast 2:02.20) and David Kolozar (3rd-200 fly 1:47.45) lead the men while ?gnes Kov?cs (1st-100 breast 1:01.08; 1st-200 breast 2:11.12; 2nd-200 IM 2:00.11; 4th-400 IM 4:17.33) and Florencia Szigeti (5th-100 free 50.19) lead the women.
