Swimming Teams Head to Texas Invite; Diving to Compete at Ohio State Invitational

The Arizona State swimming and diving teams will part ways this weekend to compete in two separate invitationals. The men and women's swimming teams will head to Austin, Texas to compete in the Texas Invite while the men and women's diving teams take a trip to Ohio State for the Ohio State Invitational in Columbus, Ohio. The Texas Invite begins on Thursday Nov. 29 and concludes on Saturday Dec. 1 while the Ohio State Invitational starts on Friday Nov. 30 and ends on Sunday Dec. 2.

Quick Recap
Two weeks ago, the women soundly defeated the Washington State Cougars 172.5-115.5. The women are now 6-1 overall and 2-1 in the Pac-10. Divers Erin Hobbs and Brittany Jumer both registered NCAA qualifying dives in both the one and three meter springboards. Ashton Aubry also registered a "B" cut in the 200 fly.

Last Time at the Texas Invite:
Last year at the Texas Invite, the men's swimming team finished fifth overall with 278 points while the women placed sixth with 261 points. Numerous Sun Devils earned NCAA "B" cuts at the invitational last season with the men and women each earning twenty over the course of the weekend.

Last Time at the Ohio State Invitational:
Last season, Mickey Benedetti won the 3-meter at the Ohio State Invitational. He also placed second in the 1-meter and seventh in the platform. Cassidy Farwell placed fourth on the platform for the women.

Competition at Texas:
The Texas Invitational will have a number of strong teams for the Sun Devils. The competition includes Pac-10 rivals Arizona and Stanford. Men's and women's teams from Wisconsin, SMU, TCU, Texas and UNLV will join the Sun Devils as well as Nebraska's women's team and Cal-State Northridge's men's team.

Next Up for the Sun Devils
The Sun Devils have a month break before kicking off the New Year hosting Washington's men's and women's teams and Oregon State and Purdue's women's teams on Jan. 5th.
