TEMPE, Ariz. – The Arizona State swimming team will return to southern California this upcoming weekend to partake in the Arena Invitational at the Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool in Long Beach, Calif. Meanwhile, the diving squad will take off to Tucson for the Wildcat Invitational starting Friday.

The Arena Invitational, hosted by UC San Diego, will see nine men’s and 13 women’s teams compete in 18 events over the course of the weekend, beginning with preliminary events on Thursday morning at 9 a.m. The meet concludes Saturday evening. The female team finished second overall in last year’s Arena Invitational.

The men’s field includes Air Force, BYU, Cal Poly, Cal State Bakersfield, Hawai’i, Stanford, UC San Diego and UC Santa Barbara. The women, ranked 16th nationally, will compete alongside BYU, California, Cal Poly, Cal State Bakersfield, Hawai’i, Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine, San Diego State, San Jose State, UCLA, UC San Diego and UC Santa Barbara. Almost 500 swimmers will see action in the pool over the course of the invitational.

On the diving end, the Devils will compete against other Pac-12 rivals along with the Wildcats. Freshman Morgan Weller looks to improve upon two first-place finishes from last weekend, as does senior Harrison Jones.

The Devils look to rebound after a tough weekend of Pac-12 competition in Los Angeles versus UCLA and USC, where both teams fell in two dual meets over the course of two days.
