Swimming Finishes Fifth at Texas Invitational

The Arizona State swimming teams concluded the Texas Invitational with both teams placing fifth. The men finished with 185 points while the women had 277. Both teams and men and women chasing school records and earning NCAA consideration times.

Starting off the in 1650 free, Christine Mauro placed 13th with a personal best time of 16:54.17. On the men's side, Luke Herlehy placed 10th coming in at 15.59.34 with Yutaro Yamashita and Anthony Calenti following.

The 200 back saw numerous movement in the ASU record books. Jamie Martinez now stands second all-time at ASU after clocking in an NCAA consideration time of 1:57.63 to place 10th overall. Rikka Brunner moved herself up to fifth with a personal best time of 1:59.22 to place 13th. In the preliminaries, Sasha Stephens hit the wall at 1:58.22 to put herself at third on ASU's all-time list. On the men's side Max Laney won the "C" final with a time of 1:46.22. He is now sixth on ASU's all-time list.

The Sun Devils also found success in the 100 free. Jen Beckberger placed second in the "B" final with a personal best time of 49.11. Her time is also an NCAA consideration time. Samantha Caldwell earned a personal best time of 50.96 as well in the event. On the men's side Mohammed Madwa placed 14th overall with a personal record of 44.58.

Jordyn Green placed fifth in the 200 breast. The freshman clocked in an NCAA consideration time of 2:12.48 to put herself at fourth all-time at ASU. Ilene Lesch won the "C" final in 2:18.11.

In the 200 fly, Ashton Aubry took fourth with a personal record of 1:57.14. Her time is also an NCAA consideration time. Sean Boyle also took fourth in the event, earning an NCAA consideration time of 1:44.98. He is now second on ASU's all-time list. 200 fly

The Sun Devil women will not compete until 2009 while the men will take on Harvard on December 20th.
