TEMPE, Ariz - The Arizona State men's and women's swimming and diving teams head to Tucson, Ariz., for their last dual meet of the regular season to take on Arizona. The meet will take place Sat., Feb. 13, 1999 at 1 p.m. at the Hillenbrand Aquatic on the campus of the University of Arizona.

The men's team enters this weekend's action with a dual-meet record of 4-4 and ranked No. 11 in the country while the women are 6-4-1 and ranked No. 22. U of A's men's team is currently ranked No. 6 and its women's team is No. 2.

Following this week's meet, preparations will begin for the post season. The women's Pac-10 Championships take place February 25-27 in Federal Way, Wash. One week later, the men's Pac-10 Championships take place (Mar. 4-6) in Long Beach, Calif.

LAST TIME OUT: The Arizona State men's and women's swimming and diving squads, ranked Nos. 10 and 23, respectively, defeated Northern Arizona in their final home dual meet of the season. The ASU men were victorious by a score of 213-74, while the women won 188.5-95.5. The Sun Devil men won every individual event and both relays, while the women won nine of 12 individual events and both relays. The event marked the final home meet for seniors (women) Tiffany Houser, Camilla Johansson, (men) Scott Brown, Robert Delgado, Guillermo Diaz de Leon, Richard Morris and Francisco Sanchez, who won the NCAA 50 freestyle his freshman year.

ASU Head Coach Michael Chasson on this week's meet: "It's just another test of where we are. It's not because it's Arizona, it could be whoever we're swimming this weekend. Certainly having it be Arizona makes the intensity level higher and so it will be a good test of where we are as we go into the conference meet. These next two or three weeks we will be getting ready for the Pac-10 Championships.

"I think (the schedule) has worked out really well. You really get to see where you are. If we were swimming a weaker opponent this year we probably wouldn't get a test of where we are. Dual-meet wise they have done about what we have done and so it will be interesting to see how this one turns out.

"I think they will swim pretty well. There are still guys fighting for positions on the Pac-10 squad and there is a lot more at stake. We haven't beaten a top-10 team yet and this is our last chance to do that in a dual meet this year.

"We have had some good practices. The team has had a good attitude, (but) we've been fighting all the flu that has been going around and that's not good. Hopefully we'll all be healthy this weekend and we will see what happens."
