INDIANAPOLIS – Coming off strong performances at the US Olympic trials in June, senior Shannon Landgrebe, junior Tristin Baxter and incoming transfer Taylor Wohrley head to Indianapolis to compete in the 2012 US Open Swimming Championships, Aug. 7-11.

Landgrebe, the Arizona State record holder in the 200 free with a time of 1:44.35, earned the 12th seed overall in the event. Landgrebe also improved her 100 free seed time from the US Olympic trials from 55th to 24th and is seeded 10th in the event heading into the US Open. Landgrebe will swim in the 100 free on Tuesday, the 200 free on Friday and finish with the 50 free on Saturday.

Baxter, a distance swimmer for the Sun Devils, is seeded 10th in the 800 free and 9th in the 400 free. In April, Baxter finished in fifth place at the USA Swimming Open Water National Championships and was named a member of the Open Water National Team for 2012. One of the best distance swimmers in ASU history, Baxter took silver at the 2012 Pac-12 Championships in the 1650 free and finished eighth at NCAA Championships in the same event to earn first team All-American honors. Baxter also holds the ASU record in both the 1000 free and the 1650 free. The junior competes in the 800 free Tuesday, 400 free Wednesday and closes out with the 200 free Friday.

Wohrley, an incoming transfer from Indiana, is ranked 13th in the 100 back. The former Big Ten Freshman of the Year will join the Sun Devils in the fall with one year of eligibility left. Wohrley, a backstroke specialist, competes in the 200 back on Wednesday and the 100 back on Friday.
