Ryan Heisey

Ryan Heisey

TitleAssociate Head Coach

Ryan Heisey was named Associate Head Coach of the Sun Devil Women's Golf program on July 23, 2025.

Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye announced the addition of the decorated coach who continues to rise through the coaching ranks. Heisey comes to Arizona State after spending the past three seasons with Florida State University. While with the Seminoles, he served as an assistant coach for both the men's and women's golf programs. At Arizona State, he will be the Associate Head Coach of Sun Devil Women's Golf, working alongside Farr-Kaye.

"We are very excited for Coach Heisey to join our staff as our Associate Head Women’s Golf Coach! Ryan brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our program.  I believe he will be a tremendous part of our success going forward and continue to support our values as a team." - Coach Farr-Kaye

Heisey joins arguably college golf's most prestigious program, as Arizona State's eight National Championships are still the most by any NCAA Division I school. The 2024-25 team finished the season in the Top-10 and has four golfers returning, which made it an extremely appealing situation for Heisey.

“It’s a tremendous honor to join the Sun Devil Women’s Golf program as Associate Head Coach and work alongside Coach Missy-Farr Kaye, whose success and leadership continues to elevate the game. Her passion for developing championship caliber student-athletes is something I deeply admire, and to have the opportunity to help guide a program with such a rich tradition is exceptionally rewarding. I can’t wait to get started and contribute to the championship culture of Arizona State!” - Ryan Heisey

While at Florida State, Heisey coached several of the nation's most talented golfers, both on the men's and women's side. The former No. 1 ranked male amateur Luke Clanton, the former No. 1 ranked female amateur Lottie Woad, and the former No.1 ranked female college golfer Mirabel Ting all recently turned pro after their junior year and were under Heisey's tutelage throughout their college careers.

Both the men's and women's programs at Florida State enjoyed successful runs with Coach Heisey on staff. Heisey helped make history in 2024-25, as the Seminoles women's team won the program's first ACC Championship. He coached both the men’s and women’s team to qualify for the NCAA National Championship each season, with the men finishing as the National Runner-Up in 2024. Each program made a pair of Match Play appearances during Heisey's tenure. Florida State golf was in the Top-12 of the final standings in the NCAA National Championship and Top-10 of the final national rankings in all three seasons while Heisey was in Tallahassee.

Heisey has a track record of developing elite talent. He has worked with a total of 10 All-Americans (six men and four women) and 16 All-Conference selections (ten men and six women) throughout his coaching career. Most notably, the 2024-25 season at FSU was a special one, as the Seminoles swept the major national golfer of the year honors for both genders. FSU's Luke Clanton took home the Ben Hogan Award as the best male collegiate golfer, while Mirabel Ting won the ANNIKA Award and was named the Division I National Golfer of the Year by the WGCA and Golfweek. Ting also earned ACC Golfer of the Year honors and finished second in the stroke play portion of the 2025 NCAA Championship.

Heisey has helped programs reach the NCAA Championship at three of his previous coaching stops. Prior to Florida State, he enjoyed successful stints at UAB, Chattanooga, and UNC Greensboro.

The New Bern, North Carolina native enjoyed an impressive collegiate and professional career. He won the 2010 North Carolina Amateur Championship by recording birdie on the final hole to shoot a tournament low round of 64 and set the all-time lowest 72-hole score in championship history with an 11-under par 269. Heisey was the runner-up of the North Carolina State Match Play Championship in 2010, runner-up at the 2010 Southern Conference Championship and placed fourth overall at the Middle Atlantic Amateur Championship in 2010. He played at UNC Greensboro from 2005-10, winning the Johnny Palmer/Old North State Tournament as a freshman. He graduated from UNC Greensboro in 2010 with a degree in Tourism Management.

Heisey turned pro in 2014 and played in more than 80 events during his professional career including 22 starts on the PGA Tour Canada and 19 starts on the PGA Tour Latin America.

He will be joined in Tempe by his wife Jillian, who is a 2014 graduate of the ASU Cronkite School, and their son Wilson.
