NHL Draft
Sun Devil Hockey sophomore center Cullen Potter made program history on Friday night when selected 32nd overall in the 2025 NHL Draft by the Calgary Flames. He became the hockey program’s highest draft pick and first NHL first-rounder in school history.
Cullen Potter going in the first round of the draft means ASU produced first-round picks in MLB, NBA, NFL, WNBA, and NHL drafts. Potter is the seventh true Sun Devil selected in the NHL Draft, adding his name to the likes of Josh Doan (Arizona/Buffalo) and Joey Daccord (Ottawa/Seattle). There are another seven skaters who transferred to ASU after being selected in the NHL Draft while in another program.
