Sun Devil Career

  • One of the most consistent Sun Devil athletes across all sports this century
  • Committed and signed with ASU and Coach Dillingham when the program was coming off 3-9 season, stuck with the program after a 3-9 season in his first year, and then was huge part of the 2024 Big 12 title team and the 8-4 campaign in 2025

2025 (Junior)

  • Turned in a dominant 2025 campaign, establishing himself as one of the premier defensive backs in the country as a multi-year starter
  • Keith Abney joined Wolf and Luke in the 1 p.m. hour starts 17 minutes (98.7 FM/Nov. 20, 2025)

  • A member of the Pat Tillman Leadership Council who notched 44 tackles, including 36 solo stops, eight assists, one tackle for loss and one sack
  • Abney's ability to create turnovers and disrupt the passing game stood out, recording two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, two interceptions and an impressive 12 pass breakups with 14 passes defended overall
  • Abney ends his career with 2024 All-Big 12 Second Team honors, 2025 All-Big 12 First Team honors, and 2025 PFSN First Team All-American honors

2024 (Sophomore)

  • Started at corner in all 14 games for the Sun Devils and tied for the team lead with three interceptions while leading the squad with nine pass breakups and finishing with 52 tackles
  • His 11 forced incompletions, according to PFF, were the fourth-most among all Big 12 players
  • After giving up two touchdowns in the first four games of the year, it was credited with just two allowed over the final 10 games of the season
  • Was targeted just once and did not allow a completion on 35 passing plays in a pivotal win over BYU late in the season
  • Had three missed tackles in the first four games, but had only two over the remaining 10
  • Allowed an NFL passer rating above 40.0 just once in the final four games

2023 (Freshman)

  • Saw action as a reserve defensive back in eight games while also spending time on special teams
  • Recorded his first career interception against Oregon on Nov. 18
  • One of only nine Pac-12 true freshman corners to play on at least 50 snaps on the season and was the third-highest graded among those with a 72.0 overall score
  • Targeted just twice on his 56 snaps on the season, allowing just one catch for seven yards

High school 

  • Two-way standout for Waxahachie High School … Finished with over 1,000 all-purpose yards and 20 tackles during a productive 25-game varsity career … Hauled in 19 catches for 396 yards and six touchdowns as a senior … Also added two interceptions, one fumble recovery, eight tackles, and a pass deflection on defense
