Andrew Seumalo

Andrew Seumalo enters his first year as a defensive graduate assistant with the Sun Devils after working as a student assistant coach and graduate assistant coach from 2014-2015 at Oregon State University.   At OSU, he worked closely with coaches, assisted in recruiting efforts, evaluated prospects, and met with players for film review and error correction. In addition, Seumalo controlled scout teams for defense, led scout team meetings, and provided feedback regarding in-game execution, personnel performances, and offensive tendencies.   In 2013, he coached and played for the Fujitsu Frontiers in the Japan X League. He was responsible for coaching the defensive line on technique and fundamentals and assisted with game planning and preparation.   Seumalo was a standout member of the Oregon State University football team for five years and was a team captain as a senior. Originally a walk-on, he earned a scholarship and graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Finance. The 2012 OSUFPA Man of Excellence Award Winner, he participated in 2012 NCAA Career in Sports Forum, earned 2012 Pac-12 Honorable Mention honors and was a three-time member of the Pac-12’s All-Academic team, including a 2012 All-Academic Second Team member.   A native of Honolulu, Hawaii, he is the son of ASU’s current defensive line coach, Joe Seumalo.
