HIGH SCHOOL: A 2002 graduate of Cactus High School in Phoenix...was a PrepStar all-region selection...named third-team All-Arizona by the Arizona Republic...committed to ASU following its 41-24 victory over Oregon State last year...listed as the No. 19 safety in the West...was the No. 16 quarterback in the West by PacWest...was the first-team All-West Valley quarterback as a senior...played quarterback at Cactus but is projected to play safety in college...passed for 1,951 yards and 23 touchdowns as a senior...completed 67 percent of his passes...also added 928 rushing yards and scored 18 touchdowns...collected 36 tackles and seven quarterback sacks in four games as a junior...Cactus coach Larry Fetkenhier recommended J.W. to Koetter's staff...Lucas shined in Koetter's summer football camp...was the Region Player of the Year in 2001...was the first-team all-region quarterback as a senior...made the all-state team...selected to the 2000 All-West Valley Region team as a junior...originally attended Peoria High School...also ran track...runs a 4.41 40 and has a 35-inch vertical jump.
