Morris enters his first season as the Assistant Athletics Director for Recruiting at ASU.
Morris comes to Tempe after spending six years (2007-13) as the Director of Player Personnel at LSU for Head Coach Les Miles. While at LSU, Morris served a leadership role in the development of five consecutive nationally top-ranked recruiting classes (LSU had the nation's #1 ranked recruiting class in 2009). He played a major role in identifying student-athletes such as Morris Claiborne, Bennie Logan, Michael Brockers, Sam Montgomery, J.C. Copeland, Anthony Johnson, Jalen Collins, Eric Reid, Tharold Simon, Spencer Ware, Alfred Blue, Jeremy Hill, Vadal Alexander, Trae Turner, La'el Collins, Jarvis Landry, and Odell Beckham to name a few.
Twice during his tenure (2009 and 2011) coaching staff members won "National Recruiter of the Year" awards for LSU. He was the Project Manager in the development of the LesMiles.net national award-winning website, the Miles Method, an Apple Application (the first of its kind in collegiate athletics) and the first of its kind iPad prospect evaluation, virtual recruiting board and data management application.
Morris joined LSU in 2007 after serving as the Assistant Athletic Director and Assistant Head Football Coach at Glades Central High School in Belle Glade, Florida for two years. The south Florida native served as Glades Central's Run Game and Special Teams Coordinator and helped his team to the 2006 Florida 3A State Championship as well as regional and district titles in 2005 and 2006.
He improved the football program's student-athlete grade-point average from 1.90 to 2.80. Morris also negotiated a contract with ESPN for a national television game and secured a contract with Nike for the school and a sponsorship for the Nike Raider Nation Primetime 7-on-7 Passing Tournament. His offense averaged over 6,000 yards of offense (430 yards per game) each season and over 42 points per game. He helped produce 16 all-conference players, 12 all-county players, 10 all-state players and one All-American. He coached and mentored 25 student-athletes who earned scholarships and played college football.
Morris began his coaching career in 2000 as the Offensive Line Coach at Deerfield Beach High School. During his tenure at Deerfield Beach, the school won three district titles, one regional championship and reached the semifinals in the 6A state playoffs.
He is a former member of LSU's men track and field program and was the winner of the 1991 SEC Championship in the 55 meter hurdles. Morris also was a member of the 1991 All-SEC track and field team and was a two-time All-American. He won a California Community College Championship title while at Long Beach City College.
Morris earned a Bachelor's Degree in Professional Studies at Barry College and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from The University of Phoenix. He also holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Physical Education and Recreation from Long Beach City College.
Morris has served as a guest speaker for the Collegiate Director's of Football Operations National Clinic and at the Nike Coach of the Year Clinic, and is a graduate of the American Football Coaches' Association Professional Coaches Development Series.
He has served as a position instructor at the Urban Meyer Offensive/Defensive Lineman Camp at the University of Florida, the Les Miles LSU Football Camp, the Tommy Tuberville Auburn University Football Camp and the Nike Combine in Miami, Florida. He has also attended coaching developmental clinics with the American Football Coaches Association, the National Convention, the Frank Glazier Football Coaching Clinic and the Nike Coach of the Year Clinic.
He is married to the former Erica Streit of Saint George's, Grenada West Indies. Together the couple has four children - Cree, Kya, Nailah and Romel.
