Player Bio: Brett Hudson



ASU: Versatile player who had an excellent first year...recruited as a safety, but played cornerback last year due to injuries in the secondary...will move back over to compete for a strong safety position this season...had excellent off-season...was recognized as a Hard Hat Player for his work in ASU's winter strength and conditioning program.

2002: Played in 12 games, starting 10 at cornerback...recorded 52 tackles, with 36 being solo efforts...tied for team lead with 4 interceptions, which tied him for sixth-most in the Pac-10...notched 4.5 tackles for loss totaling 18 yards, including two sacks...recovered two fumbles...had game-saving interception in ASU's comeback victory at No. 6 Oregon...had nine tackles and an interception against California.

JUNIOR COLLEGE: First-team All-American defensive back by JC Gridwire...made the All-Foothill Conference first-team defense...was selected the winner of the 24th annual Joe Roth Award at the Griffins' football awards banquet...the award goes to the San Diego County community college football player who best meets the high academic standards and athletic excellence the late Joe Roth exhibited during his All-American career...was also named the Grossmont Male Athlete of the Year in 2002...led the Griffins in interceptions with six...was the Most Valuable Player as a freshman at Grossmont...helped lead Grossmont to two Foothill Conference championships...Grossmont was the 2000 SoCal runner-up...best games at Grossmont included eight tackles, three interceptions and one fumble recovery vs. Mesa in 2001 and 12 tackles, one quarterback sack and a forced fumble vs. Southwestern in 2001...played for coach Dave Jordan at Grossmont.

HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Patrick Henry High School...lettered three times in football and once in track and field...captained the team in 1999...in 1998, was second-team all-Eastern League on defense and was the Most Valuable Player as a defensive back...also was all-academic that year...earned first-team All-Eastern League and defensive MVP honors in 1999...all-academic in 1999 as well...made All-San Diego County first-team on defense and played in the San Diego County All-Star game.

PERSONAL: Majoring in justice studies...is interested in a career as a football player or chiropractor...parents are Chris Hudson (machinist) and Laura Conyer (vice principal/administrative assistant)...has one brother, Ryan (24), and two sisters, Kelly (25) and Jenna (18)...born May 21, 1982 in San Diego, Calif.... full name is Brett Christopher Hudson.
