Player Bio: Mark Washington



ASU: Talented, young player who has made the move to the defensive line from linebacker...will add depth and compete for playing time at defensive end.

2004: Redshirted as a member of the scout team.

2003: Played in eight games...was one of seven true freshmen to see action...recorded seven total tackles, all unassisted...also had two tackles for loss and one sack...collected a season-high five solo tackles at Stanford, including two TFLs and a sack.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2003 graduate of Long Beach Polytechnic in Long Beach, Calif....one of several top-flight prospects from the storied Long Beach Poly High School...a member of The Tacoma News Tribune's "Western 100"...an All-American selection by PrepStar Magazine, which means he is one of the top 300 players in the nation...a Max Emfinger All-American...rated as the No. 85 player in the Farwest by SuperPrep Magazine...rated the No. 5 linebacker in the West by PacWestFootball.com...rated the No. 53 player in the West by PacWestFootball.com...frst-team defense All-C.I.F....first-team All-Moore League...first-team all-city selection...made The Long Beach Press-Telegram's Dream Team first-team...a "Who's Who" Sports All-American...hard-hitting linebacker...collected 65 solo tackles, 55 assists, 23 tackles for loss, six quarterback sacks, three fumble recoveries and five caused fumbles as a senior...won the school's Most Outstanding Linebacker Award...as a junior, posted 45 tackles, five tackles for loss, three quarterback sacks, three caused fumbles and two interceptions...started four games for the Poly 2001 team that won the C.I.F. Southern Section Division I Championship and finished ranked No. 3 nationally by USA Today...ran a 4.6 forty...started two seasons at Poly...played his sophomore season at Artesia High School...won the Governor's Scholarship Award...coached by Raul Lara.

PERSONAL: Majoring in interdisciplinary studies (recreation and mass communication)...is contemplating a career in sports medicine...parents are Mark (sales professional) and Dorthea (HR specialist)...his father, Mark, played defensive end at the University of Colorado...has one sister, Christa (20)...had one of 6,000 poems selected in Poem Society Book...was an actor in Queen of the Nile at Long Beach State University...hobbies include reading, surfing and fishing...born Aug. 20, 1985 in Harbor City, Calif....full name is Mark Terrell Washington II.
