Player Bio: Jordan Hill



ASU CAREER: A consummate leader and three-year starter whose maturity and dedication on and off the field enabled him to serve as a role model for his teammates...ASU's oldest player, having turned 25 years old just prior to the start of the 2006 season...one of only three current Sun Devils to have played all 49 games during the 2003-05 seasons (along with PK Jesse Ainsworth and SN Jason Burke), and is only non-special teams player among that group...had the most career starts (35) among ASU defenders, and ranks second behind offensive tackle Andrew Carnahan among Sun Devils on the 2006 roster...was a team co-captain as a junior in 2005...for his career, he has collected 123 total tackles (58 solo), 24.5 tackles-for-loss (minus-109 yards) and 12.5 sacks (minus-70 yards)...ended the 2006 season as ASU's active career leader in tackles for loss and sacks...originally a linebacker, he has worked to increase his playing weight to nearly 300 pounds en route to becoming one of the most sturdy interior defensive linemen in the Pac-10... is the only four-time winner in team history to receive Hard Hat Player honors for his work in ASU's winter strength and conditioning program.

2006: Played in all 13 games, starting the first 12...did not start in the Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl, as ASU began with a three-man defensive front to match up with the Warriors' spread passing attack...joined teammate Andrew Carnahan as co-recipients of ASU's Tim Landers Iron Man Award, given annually to the Sun Devil who exhibits exemplary work ethic in the weight room, on the field and in his community...totaled 26 tackles (10 solo), 3.5 tackles-for-loss, 2.5 sacks with one forced fumble, a fumble recovery and an interception on the year...recorded three solo tackles, including a two-yard tackle-for-loss against Northern Arizona on Aug. 31...his third tackle against the Lumberjacks marked his 100th career stop...tallied two total stops, including a seven-yard sack and his first career interception at Colorado on Sept. 16...totaled three tackles (one solo) and forced a fumble at No. 21 California on Sept. 23...recorded a pair of tackles against No. 12 Oregon on Sept. 30...posted a season-high five total tackles (one solo), including an assist on a two-yard sack at Washington on Oct. 28...tied his season-high of five tackles (two solo) at Oregon State on Nov. 4...recorded a five-yard sack at Arizona on Nov. 25...added a pair of solo tackles and recovered a fumble in the Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl on Dec. 24...named as a preseason Honorable Mention All-American by Street & Smith's...earned preseason Third-Team All-Pac-10 honors by Phil Steele...earned Hard Hat Player recognition for his work in the team's winter strength and conditioning program (top three in points), and is the only player in team history to receive Hard Hat honors four times.

2005: Played in all 12 games, starting 11...earned honorable mention All-Pac-10 honors...had 31 tackles (10 solo), six tackles for loss (minus-21 yards), a three-yard sack, three pass break-ups and two fumble recoveries...recorded a season-high four total tackles on three occasions...registered three total tackles (one solo) and a season-high 1.5 tackles for loss (minus-eight yards) against rival Arizona...had two tackles (one solo), including a three-yard sack of quarterback Matt Moore at Oregon State on Sept. 24...earned the Cecil Abono Co-Captain and Outstanding Defensive Lineman awards at the team's year-end banquet...was the Hard Hat Co-Champion, marking the third time in his career that he has been honored for his work in ASU's winter strength and conditioning program.

2004: Played in all 12 games, starting 10... was named the Gail Scott Most Improved Defensive Player at the season-end banquet...added 25 pounds in the offseason as he made the move to defensive tackle...finished seventh on the team with 47 tackles... ranked second on the team and eighth in the Pac-10 with 12.0 tackles for loss... tied for first on the team and ranked sixth in the Pac-10 with 7.0 sacks...recorded five tackles (four solo) at Northwestern and collected two tackles for a loss, including a sack for a loss of five yards, and a quarterback hurry...recovered two fumbles vs. Oregon State while collecting 1.5 TFLs...collected six tackles (four solo) at Oregon, including a sack for a loss of 10 yards...gathered six tackles vs. UCLA, including 0.5 tackles for loss... recorded a sack in three straight games against Stanford, Washington State and Arizona for a combined loss of 23 yards... claimed a career-high seven tackles in the Sun Bowl, including 1.5 tackles for a loss, 0.5 sacks and a quarterback hurry.

2003: Played in all 12 games with two starts...tallied 19 tackles, seven of which were solo efforts...had three tackles for loss for three yards...recorded two sacks on the season...had a sack at Iowa and another against Arizona...turned in a season-high four tackles at USC and again at Washington State...was the runner-up to the Hard Hat Champion for his work in the off-season strength and conditioning program.

2002: Redshirted as a member of the scout team...won the Glen Hawkins Defensive Scout Team Award at the year-end banquet...joined the team at Camp Tontozona after completing a mission in Australia.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2000 graduate of Highland High School in Pocatello, Idaho, the same high school that ASU head coach Dirk Koetter attended...was named the 2000 USA Today Idaho Player of the Year...totaled 301 tackles in his high school career...had 129 tackles his senior year, setting the school record for most in a season...earned first-team all-region and all-state honors at linebacker and punter as a senior...was also named Idaho Statesman and USA Today Idaho Defensive Player of the Year in 2000...multi-sport athlete who lettered in baseball (1), basketball (2) and football (3)...was captain in baseball, basketball (two years) and football (two years)...was coached by Chris Frost and Brent Koetter (Dirk Koetter's brother).

PERSONAL: Majoring in interdisciplinary studies (business and communication)...lists his future profession as a dentist...married Megan Durdy on June 27, 2003 in Denver, Colo....parents are Doug (Idaho Power employee) and Natalie (school teacher) of Pocatello, Idaho...has three younger siblings, Dexter (20), Celeste (17) and Taysom (14)...listed his most exciting experience in sports as coming back to win the state championship game his junior year after trailing by 21 points...hobbies include motorcycling, camping, wake boarding and horseback riding...born Aug. 10, 1981, in Pocatello, Idaho...full name is Jordan Douglas Hill.
