Player Bio: Sydney Donahue

ASU: Coming off back-to-back fantastic sophomore and junior seasons in which she broke several ASU and Pac-10 records, including the ASU All-Time Career Dig Record... placed her name in NCAA history with a 50-dig performance on August 26, 2006, a new NCAA record in a three-game match...led the Pac-10 in digs per game with 6.57, which placed her fourth in final NCAA standings...named All-Pac-10 honorable mention and is one of the top returning defensive players in the Pac-10... only needs 327 digs to break the Pac-10 all-time individual career digs record...has a strong volleyball background and bloodlines... her aunt Denise Corlett, is the associate head coach at Stanford... has two sisters that played division I volleyball... praised by Coach Saindon to be one of the highest recruited defensive players in the nation coming out of high school...also an excellent beach volleyball player.

2006 (Junior): Compiled one of the best seasons in ASU history...ended with an ASU and Pac-10 record of 742 digs in a single-season...etched her name in NCAA record books as she grabbed 50 digs in a victory against LMU on August 26, 2006, a new three-game match record...named Honorable Mention All-Pac-10 for the second consecutive year...now stands fifth all-time in Pac-10 individual career history for digs with 1075, placing her 326 digs shy of setting a new career record in the elite Pac-10.

2005 (Sophomore): Named Honorable Mention All-Pac-10...had an outstanding sophomore year, setting a new school record with 628 digs...finished second in the conference with 6.41 digs per game...twice recorded over 40 digs in a match, including a career high 43 at Notre Dame...the 43 digs against the Fighting Irish was the second highest single-game total in school history and most in the rally-scoring era...topped 30 digs seven times...turned in a double-digit dig performance 25 times...had seven matches with 30 or more digs...totaled 25 service aces, including a career high seven against Oregon State (9/24).

2004 (Freshman): Named first-team All-Pac-10 Freshman... led ASU and ranked fifth in the Pac-10 averaging 4.36 digs per game... broke the ASU freshman single-season digs record with 375, surpassing the old record of 355 set by current assistant coach Jami Coughlin in 1998... also broke the freshman mark for digs per game (4.36) and twice bettered the freshman record for digs in a match (26 and 30)... ranked second on the team and sixth in the Pac-10 with 0.30 service aces per game (26)... averaged 4.46 digs per game and 0.31 service aces per game in Pac-10 play... recorded 10 or more digs in 19 matches, including five 20+ dig performances... set the ASU freshman record with 30 digs against Oregon State (11/4)... became only the sixth Sun Devil to record 30 digs in a match and ranks 10th in the ASU single-match record books... the 30 digs are also tied for the ASU rally-scoring record with current assistant coach Jami Coughlin... also had 27 digs against New Hampshire (9/4) which previously set the ASU freshman record... had 23 digs against Tulane (9/12) and 24 against Oregon (10/8)... gave up her starting libero position the last two matches of the season so senior Stephanie Kohner could starter in her last matches at ASU.

High School: A 2004 graduate of Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach, Calif... played outside hitter and libero during her high school career... earned three varsity letters in volleyball under head coach DaeLea Aldrich... helped lead Mira Costa to a pair of CIF Championships and three league titles... team captain her senior year... named MVP of her JV team as a freshman... All-Bay League selection as a sophomore and also named to the all-tournament team at Santa Barbara... as a junior in 2002 was named the Bay League Player of the Year and named to several all-tournament teams... capped stellar prep career as a senior by being named the CIF Player of the Year, Daily Breeze Player of the Year and was named second-team All-State by CalHiSports.com... played club volleyball for Sports Shack for three years and the Diggers for one year... Sports Shack 18-1's finished second at the Volleyball Festival in 2002 and also took fourth in 2004... finished third with teammate Jenna Dykstra in the 2004 AAU Beach Volleyball National Championships (U19 Girls) in Hermosa Beach, Calif.

Personal: Majoring in BIS - Education/Family Studies... full name is Sydney Marie Donahue... parents are Pat and Christine Donahue of Manhattan Beach, Calif... has two older sisters, Whitney and Brooke... Whitney played volleyball at Northern Arizona and Brooke played at Colorado... lists her most exciting experience in sports as playing in front of 10,000 fans in the finals of the 2002 Volleyball Festival against Laguna Beach... likes eating pasta, In-N-Out Burger and steamed vegetables... favorite movies are Happy Gilmore and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days... enjoys going to the beach with friends and shopping... born October 10, 1986 in Los Angeles.
