Simpson enters the season as the defending conference champion at 133... 2002-03: Finished the season at 21-21 overall...won the 133 division as an unseeded competitor...upset No. 4 Matt Sanchez of CS Bakersfield, 4-3, and No. 1 Jason Harless of Oregon, 4-0, before knocking off defending champion Jesse Brock, 3-2, in the final...prior to the conference meet, finished fourth at the Kaufman Brand/Omaha Open to start the year...took eighth at Las Vegas and sixth at the Midlands...at the Midlands, upset two Top 20 wrestlers, including No. 5 Cliff Moore of Iowa...was 4-12 against nationally ranked foes...one of his upsets was over No. 5 Foley Dowd of Michigan, 8-7, at the NWCA National Duals...went 0-2 at the NCAA Championships as the No. 12 seed... 2001-02: ASU's lone 125 representative...went 24-10 overall in his first collegiate season with an 8-3 mark in dual action...second on the team with three technical fall wins...was 4-5 against nationally ranked opponents with upsets of No. 3 A.J.
