WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Arizona State senior Harrison Jones was named Pac-12 Diver of the Month for January, the Conference office announced today.
Jones, picked up his second diver of the month honor on the season for Arizona State after winning all six events in which he competed in January. The Spring, Texas native has also won both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard diving events in every meet he has participated in this season.
Jones kicked off the month with victories in the 1-meter (390.73) and 3-meter (413.78) events against BYU. Competing against Stanford, Jones defeated reigning NCAA 3-meter platform champion and Olympic bronze medalist Kristian Ipsen in both events for the second time this season. On the 1-meter, the senior secured him self a comfortable margin of victory with a score of 413.78. However on the 3-meter, the diving battle went down to the last dive with Jones taking the win by a margin of a tenth of a point of 397.58-397.48.
Jones closed out January with a bang, weathering a torrential downpour to win the 1-meter (409.65) and 3-meter events (425.25) against California by a margin of over 100 points in each discipline.
This is Jones' fifth career Diver of the Month award and his second honor this season as he won the award in November. Jones' award is also the 13th all-time for Arizona State.
