LONDON-- Arizona State junior diver Riley McCormick advances to the Olympic Finals on the men's 10-meter platform, Saturday morning, in the final diving event of the London Games. Mirroring the previous round, McCormick's sixth and final dive, earning a 97.20, secured his spot in finals and a chance for medal contention. 

At Arizona State, McCormick was back-to-back Pac-10 Diver of the Year in 2010-11. His freshman year he was the NCAA Runner-Up on the 10m platform and was back-to-back Pac-10 Platform Champion in '10, '11. In 2012, McCormick grey shirted to focus on Olympic training in Canada. He will return this fall to start his junior season for the Sun Devils.

The last Sun Devil diver to qualify for the Olympic finals was recent graduate Elina Eggers (3.96 GPA in Economics), where she finished 12th overall in the 2008 Beijing games on the women's 10-meter platform. 

The men's 10-meter platform Olympic finals airs live on NBCOlympics.com at 12:25 p.m. PT or on the NBC national television broadcast, on a tape delay, starting at 7 p.m. PT.

Friday, Aug. 10

Arizona State junior diver Riley McCormick advanced to the semifinals in the men's 10-meter platform, Friday, in the final diving event of the 2012 London Olympic games.

McCormick scored a total of 452.75 over six dives to finish the preliminary round in 11th place. The top-18 divers qualify for the semifinals. McCormick earned his highest score of the event on his final dive of a back 3 1/2 somersault, recording an 86.40 to secure his spot in the semifinals.

McComick next competes on the Saturday at 2 a.m. PT for a spot in the 10-meter platform finals later that night. The top-12 divers after Saturday's competition move on to the Olympic finals.
