Ever wonder what life might be like competing for one of the Olympic sports as a Division I athlete at a power conference university? Well, Arizona State University track and field's Shaylah Simpson is going to give you her firsthand insight into the life of a student-athlete in her weekly video blogs, chronicling the life of the school's second-leading pole vaulter all-time's schooling, training, competition, social life and everything in between.
This blog will give you a look at some of the trials and tribulations of a Division I athlete, showing you everything from the pole vault runway to the weight room to the classroom. Shaylah will give everyone an idea of just what it takes to be successful at this level, and trust us, it isn't as easy as it might seem.
This week, Shaylah talks about wrapping up the indoor season and looks ahead to the upcoming outdoor campaign.
If you have any questions or comments for Shaylah for future blogs, feel free to e-mail them to Jeremy Hawkes (jdhawkes@asu.edu) and we'll be sure to give you a shout out in next week's blog.
