IOWA CITY, Iowa--Arizona State diver Cameron Bradshaw advances to the finals of the men's 3-meter springboard to compete for the U.S. National Title, held Saturday in Iowa City at the USA Diving Winter National Championships. The 2011 Winter Nationals also serves as an opportunity to qualify for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials.
Cameron Bradshaw, son of head coach Mark Bradshaw, combined for 730.85 points in the men's 3-meter quarterfinals and semifinals to finish the rounds in 11th place. The top-12 divers qualify for the event final.
"This is a big break through for him," said head coach Mark Bradshaw. "He'll be in the running to compete in the [AT&T] Grand Prix team."
The four divers with the highest cumulative scores from the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals who also meet the degree of difficulty requirements will be named to the AT&T Grand Prix team.
"I am really proud of the way he competed today," said head coach Mark Bradshaw. "He fought and did enough to advance to the finals."
Cameron Bradshaw looks to follow his father's Olympic footsteps. Mark Bradshaw finished fifth on the men's 3-meter springboard at the XXIV Olympic games in Seoul, South Korea.
