Softball player Mandy Urfer has been named ASU's Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending May 8th. Urfer has continued to rack up hits, as she batted .500 on the weekend, while also hitting a home run. For the season, Mandy Urfer is batting .379 which is good for second on the team behind infielder Katelyn Boyd. Her strong performance allowed the Sun Devils to record a series victory over the No. 14 Stanford Cardinal and they now sit at 39-11 and 8-7 in Pac-10 play. The Sun Devils continue their Pac-10 season as they hit the road again to face the Oregon State Beavers this weekend in Corvallis, beginning on Friday at 3 p.m. PT.
Mandy Urfer hit .500 over the weekend with two runs scored, two RBIs and a home run for a 1.000 slugging percentage. Her work at the plate was integral to ASU's series win over No. 14 Stanford over the weekend as well as her defensive handiwork keeping the Cardinal offense at bay. Only able to play two games due to strep throat, Mandy made the most of it, with her clutch hitting proving to be a huge benefit for the Sun Devils.
