Alexandra Elston Checks in From U23 National Team Training Camp

March 11, 2010

Arizona State rising senior midfielder Alexandra Elston is currently in Florida training with the U23 National Team. See below for updates from Elston describing her experiences at the team's training camp.

Update #1

We played the Freedom (Tuesday) and we lost 2-0. Abby Wambach scored the first goal. I got to play the second half. We play Miami today so hopefully I'll play better today. I didn't play bad yesterday, just not great or anything. There's a back here that reminds me of Ky (Kyleyn Felts) and a forward that reminds me of Courtney Crane because of the way they look & run. It's kinda weird, but I love Ky and Court!

Update #2

We beat Miami 4-1 today (Wednesday). I played some of the first half. There are some super fast forwards that scored a couple good goals. Other than some U16 boys that we play on Saturday, all we have left is probably 4 training sessions... We get friday afternoon off...yesssss. Oh and by the way the first day we were here the coach asked me what my name was and I said Zanz, but he thought I said Stan. So he called me Stan a couple times before he realized it was Zanz, which he can't say or something or he just got super confused so I told him to just call me Z. So a few of the girls here call me Stan...or Stanley. Ha!

Update #3

Just finished up our last scrimmage! We played a U16 team, but they were full grown, definitely not 15/16 year olds. Ha ha! We lost like 5-0 but they didn't really score any good goals on us. They were mostly from our mistakes. I played about 30 minutes of the second half. On Friday we played handball because it was pouring rain. My team won 9-10. I had like 4 assists and 1 goal. :)  Anyways, I had a good time here, but I'm excited to get back to Tempe!
