Former Arizona State All-American swimmer Nick Brunelli (Sun Devil Aquatics) has qualified for the finals of the 50m freestyle at the U.S. Olympic Trials - Swimming at the Qwest Center in Omaha, Neb. Brunelli clocked in a personal best time of 21.99 to qualify for the finals. His time is the fifth-fastest in the final and the top two swimmers qualify for the 2008 Olympic Games.
Brunelli was just shy of making the Olympics in the 100m free earlier this week. He placed seventh in that final after touching the wall in 48.87. Brunelli was a 16-time All-American on the Sun Devil swimming and diving team from 2001-2004. He was the Pac-10 Champion in the 200 free his senior season. Brunelli will compete in the 50 free final tomorrow at 6:45 CT.
