2006-07 Arizona State Women's Basketball Team Accomplishments

• Made it to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.

• Concluded the 2006-07 season ranked No. 8 in the final USA Today/ESPN coaches poll and No. 10 in the final Associated Press poll, ASU's highest FINAL rankings in each of the respective polls in school history.

• For the first time in school history ASU made its third consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Sun Devils' No. 3 seed in the Greensboro Region was their highest ever placement in the NCAA Tournament.

In 2006-07 ASU set single-season school records for most wins (31), most Pac-10 wins (16) and most road wins (10).


• ASU's 31 wins this season eclipsed the previous record of 25, which was done three other times (1981-82, 2001-02, 2005-06).

• With 31 wins in 2006-07 the Sun Devils have now won 20 or more games three straight years and five times in the last seven seasons. Only one other time in the program's history (1980-81, 1981-82, 1982-83) have the Sun Devils had three consecutive 20-win seasons.

• For the second consecutive season the Sun Devils set the single-season school record for most Pac-10 wins with 16.

• ASU also set a new standard for most road wins in a season with 10. In fact, ASU is 14-1 in its last 15 road games going back to the 2005-06 season.

• ASU's No. 7 ranking in the USA Today/ESPN coaches poll earlier in the season was its highest ever ranking in either of the major polls.

• The Sun Devils placed a program record eight players on the Pac-10's All-Academic Women's Basketball Team.

Head coach Charli Turner Thorne achieved a pair of milestones this season, earning her 100th Pac-10 win and her 200th ASU win.


• ASU led the Pac-10 in home attendance, averaging 3,502 fans per game.

• The Sun Devils advanced to the championship game of the Pac-10 Tournament for the third time in the tournament's six-year history. Senior F Emily Westerberg was named to the All-Tournament Team after averaging 12.3 points and 4.7 rebounds in ASU's three tournament games.

• Senior Emily Westerberg became the first Sun Devil in school history to be named to the All-Pac-10 Team three times. Also earning All-Pac-10 First-Team Honors was senior Aubree Johnson. Sophomore Briann January earned Pac-10 Honorable Mention honors and Dymond Simon was named to the Pac-10 All-Freshman team despite being sidelined the second half of the Pac-10 season due to an ACL injury.

• Westerberg became the first Sun Devil since 2002 to be selected in the annual WNBA Draft (Phoenix Mercury, third round).

• ASU is now 80-22 (.784) since 2004-05. ASU's 56 wins the last two seasons are the most of any Pac-10 school

• ASU's 577 free throws made and its free throw shooting percentage of 75.1 were the highest single-season marks in school history.

• ASU also set single-season records for most points (2,606), most assists (652) and most blocks (99).

• The opponent scoring average of 58.6 points per game was the second-best mark in school history.

• Head coach Charli Turner Thorne achieved a pair of milestones this season, earning her 100th Pac-10 win and her 200th ASU win.
