Arizona State University diver Micky Benedetti has been named the Pacific-10 Conference Diver of the Month for February, Pac-10 Commissioner Tom Hansen announced.
At the Pac-10 Diving Championships, the redshirt freshman and Rome, Italy native claimed the title in both the three-meter and platform at the Conference championships and was recognized as the Pac-10 Conference Diver of the Meet.
Benedetti won the three-meter championship with a score of 433.10, making him ASU's fifth consecutive three-meter Conference champion, and the school's sixth in the past eight years. By winning the platform championship with a score of 394.90 points, Benedetti made Sun Devil history by becoming the first ASU diver to win a Pac-10 platform championship.
Benedetti also found success in the one-meter with a score of 323.05 to place fourth. Earlier in the month in ASU's meet at Arizona, Benedetti placed first overall in both the one-meter (323.05) and three-meter (366.82) events.
This is the second monthly honor for Benedetti and Arizona State's fifth Diver of the Month all-time. He will next look to add national glory to his Pac-10 recognition, competing at the 2007 NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships in Minneapolis, Minn. from March 15-17.
