Pressley Posts Two Personal Bests to Lead Sun Devils at Triton Invite

LA JOLLA, Calif. - Members of the Arizona State University track and field team completed competition at the UC San Diego Triton Invitational Saturday in La Jolla, Calif., with several athletes posting solid marks in the field events, including one school record and two others ranking among the Top 3 all-time at ASU. In all, six marks also reached the NCAA regional qualifying standards.

Jessica Pressley turned in a solid performance as the sophomore placed third in the shot put with a school record toss of 17.19m (56-4.75), bettering her own mark of 17.05m thrown last year in the regional meet. Despite her overall placement, she was the top collegiate finisher with teammate Sarah Stevens finishing second among the collegiate entries and fourth overall with a toss of 16.83m (55-2.75), the third-best in school history.

Pressley was not done there, however, as she also finished fourth overall and second among collegiate entries win the discus with the third-best throw in school history at 56.18m (184-4). Stevens also competed in the event, placing ninth overall and fifth collegiately with a mark of 51.54m (169-1). Becky Holley rounded out the Sun Devil women's regional marks as she won the javelin with a throw of 44.03m (144-5).

Sam Knobbe in the 800m run (56th at 2:36.74) and 1,500m run (33rd at 5:10.11).

The Sun Devils will travel south to Tucson next weekend as they face intrastate rivals Arizona and Northern Arizona in the annual Double Dual on Saturday.
