TEMPE, Ariz. (www.thesundevils.com) -- After a month long break, Arizona State University swimming and diving is back in action this weekend at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center. Friday and Saturday the men will host Purdue. The women will host Rice Friday and Pac-10 opponent Oregon State on Saturday. Competition begins both days at 12 p.m. MST.
ASU swam well during its last outing at the Texas Invitational Dec. 1-3. Sophomore Caitlin Andrew (San Antonio, Texas) broke school records in the 100-yard freestyle and the 100-yard backstroke. Senior Joona Puhakka (Helsinki, Finland) has broken school records during ASU's last two diving competitions in the one-meter diving event. While diving was at the Ohio State Swimming and Diving Invitational, ASU swimming was able to finish in fifth and sixth place for the women and men respectively at the Texas Invitational.
After this weekend, ASU will host just two more duels at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center this season. The men's team will play host to Minnesota Jan. 14 and the men and women will compete against Arizona Feb. 11.
