INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Former Sun Devil swimmer Nick Brunelli swam into second-place in the 50 freestyle on the third day of competition at the 2005 World Long Course Championship Trials held at the IU Natatorium. The trials run through Wednesday, April 6.
Brunelli, who took the bronze in the 50 freestyle at the 2004 World Short Course Championships, swam into Sunday's final with a preliminary time of 22.28. He finished second in the finals with a time of 22.33, touching the wall behind Olympic gold medalist Jason Lezak.
Also in action Sunday was Sun Devil Heidi Schmidt who swam into 29th in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:14.27.
The 2005 World Long Course Championship Trials continue Monday with men's 100 freestyle, women's 200 butterfly, men's 200 IM, women's 200 backstroke, women's 800 freestyle and men's 1500 freestyle.
