INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Florencia Szigeti, a senior member of the Arizona State University swimming and diving team, finished fifth in the first round of the 200m freestyle at the World Short Course Championships held at the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind., qualifying her to compete in the finals Monday night.
Szigeti, competing for Argentina, finished fifth in the qualifying round of the 200m freestyle Monday morning with a time of 2:00.41. She is the reigning Pac-10 Champion in the 200 freestyle and the school record-holder in the 100 and 200 freestyle events at ASU.
Szigeti also competed in the 100m freestyle Friday, placing 11th with a time of 55.19, and in the 50m freestyle Sunday, clocking a time of 25.63 to finish tied for 18th with Radnheidur Ragnarsdottir of Israel.
The World Short Course Championships wrap up competition Monday evening.
