TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State junior All-American diver Trisha Tumlinson will travel to Huntersville, N.C., this weekend to participate in the 2004 World Cup Diving Trials. The 2001 US Senior National Champion on platform is slated to compete in the preliminaries of that event on Sunday, January 18, at 12:30 p.m. The finals are later that day.
The meet, contested at Huntersville Family Fitness & Aquatics, features over 60 of the best divers in the United States. Including Tumlinson, 23 women will compete in the platform event.
The trials are a competition to select the USA Diving Team that will compete at the 14th FINA Diving World Cup taking place in Athens, Greece, from February 18-22. The top two finishers in each individual event and the top team in the synchronized events qualify for the US World Cup team.
