TEMPE, Ariz. - After a two and half hour rain delay this afternoon in Seattle, Washington, the 16th-ranked Arizona State softball team (36-24, 8-18 Pac-10) dropped a doubleheader to fourth-ranked Washington (46-11, 19-7 Pac-10) by the identical scores of 3-0.
After no-hitting California last weekend, UW no-hit ASU in the first game as Jamie Graves (18-4) pitched her first-ever perfect game. ASU's Roxanne Tsosie (22-10), who threw the no hitter against California, only allowed three hits on three runs, two earned.
Game two, ASU could manage only three hits as UW scattered 10, shutting out the Sun Devils. Erin Hull, Devyn Braga and Holly Smith each had a single, but could not push anybody across the plate. Carrie Breedlove (14-14) took the loss, while UW's Jennifer Spediacci (21-5) earned the win.
Arizona State will end its 1998 regular season tomorrow against UCLA in Los Angeles at 1:00 p.m. ASU will then wait for the regional parings announcement that begins at 6:00 p.m. Pacific time.
