TEMPE, Ariz. -
The Arizona State softball team (49-8) advances to round two of NCAA Championship action as they prepare to host Louisiana (52-4) this Thursday and Friday in the Tempe Super Regional.

The NCAA Super Regional is one of eight across the nation, all of which feature three-game series' over the course of the upcoming weekend. The first team to win two games will continue to the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City, Okla.

The first faceoff between ASU and UL will be broadcast on ESPN2 on Thursday, May 24 at 7 p.m., PT. The second game, scheduled for Friday, May 25 at 6 p.m., as well as the third game at 8:30 p.m. if necessary, will be on ESPNU. All games will be broadcast on ESPN3 and www.WatchESPN.com as well. All-session passes for the Tempe Super Regional will be on sale to the general public Monday, May 21st at 1 p.m, and are available for field level ($25), reserved level ($22), general admission for adults ($20) and general admission for senior citizens, juniors and groups ($15). Single-game tickets will go on sale at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 23. Credit card machines are available at the ticket booth at Farrington Stadium.

PREVIOUSLY FOR THE DEVILS
Arizona State opened postseason play by hosting the Tempe Regional this past weekend, where they went 3-1 to advance to the Super Regionals. The Devils came out of the gate running for a five-inning 9-0 victory over LIU Brooklyn on Friday, followed by three-straight games against No. 25 Syracuse. ASU won the first contest 3-1 on Saturday, but lost the first game on Sunday 1-0 to force a deciding Game 7, where the Devils came out on top 4-0.

Pitcher Dallas Escobedo, who threw for all three games against the Orange, saw 27 strikeouts over the weekend and is now 22-5 on the year. Freshman Haley Steele saw two home run shots through the four games and the ASU defense left 20 opposing runners on base.

SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
Louisiana finished the regular season 49-4 with a 21-3 record in the Sun Belt Conference, and are 13-2 at away sites. They hosted the NCAA Lafayette Regional, where the Ragin' Cajuns went 3-0 with a six-inning 8-0 win over Mississippi Valley State, and two wins over Stanford with scores of 9-3 and 6-2. Louisiana is hitting a .345 batting average, and has thus far held their opponents to a .199 clip. Senior Katie Smith leads the roster with a .444 BA, one of two players with a batting average over .400. In the bullpen, Ashley Brignac and Jordan Wallace have split most of the work this season, with Brignac on a 2.02 ERA and a 23-3 record, and Wallace on a 2.10 ERA and a 26-1 record.
