TEMPE, Ariz. - Six Sun Devils have been named to the 2005 Pac-10 Conference Women's Basketball All-Academic teams, Pac-10 Commissioner Tom Hansen announced Wednesday. That marks the second consecutive season that six student-athletes from the ASU women's basketball team have earned conference all-academic honors.
Sophomore forward Aubree Johnson has been named to the all-academic second team. For Johnson, who carries a 3.83 GPA and is studying kinesiology, it marks her first career all-academic selection.
ASU had five players who were named to the Pac-10 All-Academic honorable-mention squad, including senior guards Carrie Buckner, Kylan Loney and Lauren Stagg, redshirt freshman guard Jacquelyn Johnson and sophomore forward Emily Westerberg.
Buckner and Loney have earned Pac-10 All-Academic honors for the third time in their careers, while it marks the second all-academic accolade for Stagg. Johnson and Westerberg are first-time honorees to the Pac-10 All-Academic squad.
To be eligible for selection to the Pac-10 All-Academic teams, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall GPA and be either a starter or significant contributor.
