Player Bio: DeWy DeWitt



QUICK NOTES: A local prep product who joined the roster as a walkon in the fall of 1999 with an academic scholarship, redshirted that year, and then went on a two-year mission to Peru and came back 10 pounds lighter but has gained about 20 pounds...played his freshman year at 210...southpaw...expects to major in electrical engineering...has three older sisters, two younger brothers and a younger sister...sister Maryon attended BYU and was a National Junior College All-American for two years in softball and played at Ricks College...great scholar-athlete...did his mission at Trujillo, Peru...mission was not an easy one, as he lived in a tough part of the city...slept on dirt floors and saw street gangs get in life-ending fights...as on all missions, he was allowed to call family on holidays, but mostly kept in contact with weekly letters.

SHOW LOW HIGH SCHOOL: Earned three letters in basketball and one in baseball...coached in high school by Steve Troglia, the 3A East Conference Coach of the Year...all-conference pick in 1997-98...an all-state 3A pick...averaged 19.7 points, 12.7 rebounds, 7.6 blocks and 3.2 assists in senior year...shot better than 60 percent on three-pointers...had 28 points and 13 boards vs. Round Valley.

ETC.: Born May 24, 1981, in Show Low, Ariz....father, Lyon, owns an auto repair shop while mother, Beth, is a school teacher...older sisters are Janell, Cami and Maryon...younger brothers are Tyler, who is a missionary in Texas, and Dustyn...youngest sister is Jeanie.
